MIDDLEBURY - Middlebury College is in the spotlight this week after news of a raid on a large student drinking party was made public Nov. 3. The raid was made Oct. 30, according to several state and local police reports.
Several students were cited with civil and criminal charges.
A coordinated, sweeping raid was made by officers of the Vermont State Police, Department of Liquor Control, and Middlebury and Bristol police departments at a rented house located at 424 Quarry Rd. between Routes 7 and 116 in Middlebury. The raid took place at 11:30 p.m., Oct. 30.
More than a dozen students, all under age, told police they were Middlebury school students; all were issued citations for under-age consumption.
Several of the students charged were residents of the Quarry Road rental house; several are members of the Middlebury College lacrosse team, according to police reports.
