SARANAC LAKE - "Painting Time," an exhibit of landscape paintings by Sandra Hildreth, opens Friday, June 5 at the Adirondack Artists' Guild. The opening reception is from 5-7 p.m. and the paintings will be on display through Monday, July 6.
All of the paintings in the exhibit have been done "en plein air" - outdoors, on location. The term has been credited to the French Impressionists, who broke tradition and instead of painting in their studios, took their easels and paints outdoors and recorded their "impressions" of the world around them.
All the paintings in this exhibit were completed during the past 12 months and are Adirondack landscapes in the Saranac Lake area. Most are oils done on canvas. There will also be a number of small watercolor sketches, done while on hiking or paddling trips.
