Friends to meet, elect officers

SCHROON LAKE - The annual meeting of the Friends of the Schroon Lake Public Library will be held on Wednesday, June 10 at 6 p.m. at the Schroon Lake Fish and Game Club.

The speaker will be Douglas R. Arnold, #4693W, a member of The Forty-Sixers (those who have climbed all 46 high peaks in the Adirondacks). He is the chair of the Grace Peak Committee. This group is working toward re-naming East Dix as Grace Peak in honor of Grace Hudowalski. Arnold will present a mini-biography of Grace, who was a well known personality in the Schroon Lake area; the connection between Peaks and People of the Adirondacks; and explore the history of how the mountains got their names and the procedure to rename them.

At the annual meeting, officers and directors will be elected from the following slate. Directors are elected to serve for five years and officers for one year. The Friends need a candidate for president.Vice-President: John Dillon; Treasurer: Tess Daley; Secretary: Sue Yoeckel; Corr. Secy: Michel M. Lee.

There are no term expirations for any directors this year.
