PLATTSBURGH - Businesses from across the region will come together once again as the Plattsburgh-North Country Chamber of Commerce hosts its annual Business Expo.
The State University of New York at Plattsburgh Field House on Rugar Street will again be the venue for the event, to be held next Thursday, June 4.
Chamber of commerce executive vice president Jody A. Parks said the event, now in its 21st year, is one of the greatest networking opportunities in the area.
"The expo is one of our biggest events," said Parks. "The exhibitors really find this to be a solid marketing event for them."
In a day and age when more and more business is done over the phone and Internet, there's often a loss of personal contact between customers and businesses, Parks said. The Business Expo is a way to rectify that, bringing them together for the benefit of all.
"We still live in a relatively small area and that personal contact is so important," said Parks. "[Businesses at the expo] have a chance to meet their customers face to face and really talk to people and make that connection again."
The expo is also an opportunity to introduce people to new businesses with new services and even some long-standing businesses that offer services some never knew they did.
"When you do business with certain people, you find yourself falling into a routine, but when you go the Business Expo you realize there are so many more businesses out there that you kind of forget about every now and then or until you need their services," said Parks. "The Business Expo is a real good place to see what's out there and what people have to offer."
"It's amazing how you forget what's going on in your own backyard," she added.
