The heavily used Rutland Free Care Clinic reopened at a new location earlier this month. The medical clinic is located at 145 State St. while the Rutland Dental Clinic is still located at 71 Grove St. in Rutland.
According to the Free Clinic leadership, "In 2007, we partnered with Community Health Centers of the Rutland Region, a local Federally Qualified Health Center, the first partnership of its kind in the state of Vermont. This partnership has enabled a move to a larger, more visible space and will enable us to offer more dental care and extended medical clinic hours."
Rutland Free Clinic began its operation in 1966 and is a registered nonprofit. They are staffed by volunteer professionals to provide medical and dental care to uninsured adults whose income is not more than 200 percent of the federal poverty level and also offer care to adults who are underinsured, having catastrophic health insurance with at least an annual $10,000+ deductible.
Individuals who are eligible are also provided assistance in completion of forms for VHAP, Medicaid, RRMC free care program, Ladies First, Quit Line, and Prescription Assistance Programs.
Area pharmacies, the local hospital, medical and dental specialists all offer services and discounts to the clients in need of care.
Some of the services that are offered are: routine and primary health exams, chronic pain management, acute illness exams, occupational therapy as well as physical therapy and annual flu clinics. Mental health counseling, women's health clinics, nutrition counseling and alternative health modalities are also services of the Rutland Free Clinic.
In 2004, the dental services clinic was added and it's located in Rutland. Dental hygiene care and restorative dental care are also services provided with this organization.
The clinic is supported financially by the State of Vermont, corporate and individual donations and grants. To make a tax deductible donation and/ or volunteer, contact the clinic at 145 State St. in Rutland, Vermont. They stress that they are volunteers from 'all walks of life and professions' who work with them to advertise, support, and provide care to our neighbors in need. Without the volunteers this clinic wouldn't be possible and they wish to take this opportunity to thank all of their supporters and volunteers.
The Rutland Free Clinic does not offer emergency services, but are available by appointments by calling 775-1360. For other questions individuals may e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org.
