The public will have an opportunity to tour the headquarters and hangar of the Civil Air Patrol's Rutland Composite Squadron. The Civil Air Patrol is an auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force.
CAP senior members and cadets will host a special CAP Open House Saturday, June 20, 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Rutland Southern Vermont Regional Airport, located off Route 7, in North Clarendon.
The public is invited to tour the CAP facility, meet pilot volunteers, view several aircraft-including several experimental aircraft owned by members of the EAA/Experimental Aircraft Association's Green Mountain Flyers chapter, and enjoy hot dogs and hamburgers prepared by cadets.
Vermont's NASA-JPL Solar System Ambassador will also be on hand with a stand-up display about NASA's proposed Mars ARES robot aircraft. Free build-it-yourself Mars ARES paper-airplanes will be available for youngsters.
The event is free and open to the public.
