The Birdseye Mountain ATV Club and the Castleton First Responders participated in a mountain rescue practice drill on Birdseye Mountain near the Castleton-Ira townline recently.
The volunteer first responders are required to amass 48 hours of hands-on training each year to maintain their certification.
Joining with Birdseye Mountain ATV Club enabled both organizations to get valuable training experience in a mountain rescue situation. Both organizations plan to jointly train in a variety of rescue scenarios.
