Troopers investigate shooting incident

On May 4, at approximately 4:58 p.m., Vermont State Police responded to a suspicious complaint at residence 134 Norton Ave. in Poultney. State dispatch advised that a family member of the homeowner, Patricia Frank, age 47, stated that she was requesting the police at her house.

Upon arrival a Vermont State Police trooper knocked several times on the residence main door and announced his presence; however, he received no answer.

While the trooper attempted to make contact with Frank, she called state dispatch and advised that she had two males at gun point inside her residence. The trooper then requested that she exit the house; however, she refused and a single gun shot was heard from within the rear of the home.

State dispatch was soon able to persuade Frank to exit the house at which time a State Police K-9 unit was utilized to secure the home.

As the police spoke with Frank, a 20-gauge shotgun was located inside the residence; however, no other persons were found. Two bullet holes were located inside the residence which Patricia advised that she fired at the two males inside.

As police continued their investigation, they found no evidence of any other person inside Frank's home. She was then taken into protective custody for her own safety.
