The stars will align at the Vergennes Opera House as local legends and 1960s music rockers, The Galaxies, take the stage on May 29, 8 p.m., to present a night of music, good friends, reminiscing and the chance to forge new memories.
On the heels of a sold out performance at the Old Lantern in Charlotte in April following a phenomenal reunion concert at the Opera House in January, the four Addison County natives are not resting on their laurels.
The May 29 public performance will also celebrate the reunions of the Vergennes High School classes of 1959, 1964, and 1969 as part the larger Alumni Weekend celebration taking place in and around Vergennes.
Not satisfied to simply take the stage and play their music, The Galaxies put a great deal of planning into their performance, usually including a cash bar, comfortable seating arrangements and a slide show of images relating to the era and the music they love so much.
Using the Opera House's huge projection screen, the band projects a backdrop of classic images, home movies, still photos and montages that weave seamlessly with the music. Tunes from the Beatles, Herman's Hermits, Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Dave Clark Five and Gerry and the Pacemakers come to life through the Galaxies honest interpretations and bring the listener about as close to reliving the music of the 1960s as anyone should hope to come.
All of their past engagements have been total sell-outs and so event organizers are encouraging people to get their tickets early through Classic Stitching on Main Street in Vergennes, the Vergennes Opera House or through the Flynn Regional Box Office at 802-86FLYNN or flynntix.org.
