Police complete sex offender compliance

TICONDEROGA - The Essex County Sheriff's Office, in conjunction with the Ticonderoga Police Department, Saranac Lake Police Department, Lake Placid Police Department, Essex County Probation and the Essex County District Attorney's Office performed a county wide check of all registered sex offenders April 8. The check consisted of verifying addresses of all offenders registered in Essex County.

In all, 91 offenders were checked and all were in compliance of the sex offender laws.

Two arrests were made in connection with the check in the town of Ticonderoga.

Dustin M. Sousis of Ticonderoga was arrested on one count of unlawful growing cannabis, a class A misdemeanor; criminal possession of marijuana fifth, a class B misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Michael Putnam, also of Ticonderoga, was also arrested for the same charges along with an additional charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance seventh, a class A misdemeanor.

Both men were issued appearance tickets.
