Orange take control of division with victory over Minerva-Newcomb
LONG LAKE - What began as a pitcher's duel suddenly blew open May 7 when the Orange offense exploded for five runs in the bottom half of the fifth inning to tale a 7-1 lead.
Pitching staff ace Alex Smith struck out 19 Mountaineers and surrendered four hits.
The lone Mountaineer run came on a Brandon Poulton homer.
Jeff Reynolds and Jordon Monthony each had triples for the Orange.
Orange beat Jags
JOHNSBURG - Jordan Monthony hit a pair of three-run homers and got the win as Indian Lake-Long Lake take down the Johnsburg Jaguars 6-3 May 6.
Josh Harvey recorded nine strikeouts for the Jags in the losing effort. Kevin Conner added a double.
Bolton downs Mountaineers
BOLTON LANDING - Minerva-Newcomb pitching gave up 4 runs in the bottom half of the first and the Mountainners just couldn't close the gap May 4.
Devin Tokarz, Brandon Poulton and Dylan Saville each doubled for the Mountaineers in 5-3 loss.
Jags down Westport
JOHNSBURG - Down 7-1 in the second, the Jags roared back and secured a 14-9 victory over Westport May 4.
Ninth hitter AJ Heid had a double, home run and four RBIs and collected the victory on the mound.
Girls Softball
Lady Orange bats silenced
BOLTON LANDING - Kaylie Miller struck out four and gave up four hits, pitching a complete game for the Lady Orange. But her efforts were not rewarded as the Lady Orange fell 2-0 to the Bolton Lady Eagles Monday, May 11.
Bolton pitcher Cory Persons struck out nine Orange hitters as she no-hit the Lady Orange.
Lady Jags overwhelmed by Keene
KEENE - Johnsburg pitching surrendered 19 hits in a lopsided loss to Keene Monday. Keene scored seven runs in the second inning and 13 in the fourth.
