Townwide sale set for this weekend

All are extended a hearty welcome to Thurman for the annual townwide sale. Residents hope visitors will enjoy browsing through the many sales and can find something that you have been looking for. Sign the guest books at various sales. Free maps and lists of sales will be given out at entrances to town.

Seniors to discuss future trips

The Sugar Loaf Mountain Seniors club is in the process of determining upcoming trips,which which is to be discussed at the club's next meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday May 20 at the town hall.

This get-together will include observing Mother's Day, and sharing memories of the event. All are invited to bring a dish to pass and join in a pot luck dinner. Also, items can be brought in for a local soldier stationed in Iraq. For information, call 623-9425.

The seniors enjoyed an Easter ham dinner at their April 15 meeting with 24 members and one guest attending.

Meetings and municipal news

The town assessors will be available at their Harris House Headquarters to answer questions about the assessment process Saturday May 16 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday May 20 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Taxpayers can also stop by during regular office hours or call 623-4593.

Assessment Grievance Day is Tuesday May 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the town hall, Forms to fill out for tax grievances are available at both locations.

The Thurman town board meets at 7 p.m. Monday May 18 for its monthly bill-paying session, and for the regular business meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday May 19. Both meetings are open to the public. A portion of the meeting is reserved to hear public comment and concerns.

Gleaning food distribution will be at the town hall at 10 a.m. Tuesday May 19. Those with questions on this free food program may call 623-9649.
