TICONDEROGA - The annual Ti Idol competition will get under way this weekend.
The first round of eliminations in the talent show will be Saturday, May 9, at 5 p.m. Ticonderoga High School.
The second round will be held Saturday, June 6, at 6 p.m. and will feature WOKO Country night with DJ "The Cowboy."
The final will be Friday, July 3, at 6 p.m. in the Bicentennial Park.
Tickets to the preliminary rounds are $6 for adults and $4 for students and senior citizens. A ticket all rounds is $15 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens.
Patterned after the television program, "American Idol," the event is open to individual vocal performances only in junior (ages 7-12), teen (ages 13-18) and adult categories.
All contestants must reside full time within a 45-mile radius of Ticonderoga and must be amateurs. No bands or electrical instruments will be permitted.
Proceeds from Ti Idol shows are used for Ticonderoga July 4th celebration.
