SARANAC LAKE - The Saranac Lake Sister Cities Association is organizing a good-will exchange visit with its sister city of Entrains-sur-Nohain, France for this June.
"Two years ago, representatives from Entrains visited Saranac Lake as a continuing tradition of our Sister Cities Association," explained SCA president Ned Long. "We had a wonderful time renewing our friendships and we made a commitment to organize a trip from Saranac Lake to visit them."
The exchange, which enables people from both communities to better understand each other, learn to appreciate our differences and similarities, and to experience each other's culture, is scheduled from June 18-30.
"It's a great opportunity for residents of Saranac Lake to experience first-hand how people in a small French village live since we will be hosted and entertained by Entrains families," Long said.
The trip includes a week-long visit in Entrains, located in Burgundy, a region world-renowned for its wines and historic sites, as well as a four-night stay in Paris, before returning to Saranac Lake. The exchange package includes airfare and transportation to and from Paris to Entrains, and is tentatively priced at $1,600 per person, with double occupancy in Paris.
People interested in participating in the exchange visit, or who want more information, can contact Sylvie Nelson at the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at 891-1990 or by e-mail at email@example.com. An information session has been scheduled for Thursday, May 14 at the Saranac Lake Adult Center.
