Jags lose thrillers to Mountaineers

JOHNSBURG - The Johnsburg Jaguars baseball team jumped on top of Minerva-Newcomb early on April 22, mounting a 6-2 lead by the third inning. However, the Jags couldn't hold it as the Mountaineers continually chipped away until Brandon Tokarz tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with a solo home-run.

The Mountaineers scored two in the top of the eight inning and won the game 8-6.

Sam Kelly Pitched 5-plus innings of one-hit ball for the Mountaineers.

The two squads met again May 1 and the scores were locked at 12 heading into the final inning. It took yet another timely Mountaineer blast - as Kevin Yandon's triple in the bottom of the seventh - to resolve the contest with a 13-12 Minerva-Newcomb victory.
