A fingerlickin' good partnership

The Lake Champlain KFC Co-Op and the Blodgett Corporation celebrated their recent partnership last week at a special business event at the KFC Restaurant located on 408 Shelburne Rd. Over 40 members of the Burlington business and civic communities attended including City of Burlington Mayor Bob Kiss.

The Burlington-based Blodgett Corporation is providing its energy efficient ovens to over 5,000 KFC restaurants across the U.S. to make KFC's new Kentucky Grilled Chicken menu offering.

By expanding its national presence with this KFC partnership, Blodgett is boosting the regional economy and creating several local jobs. The KFC-Blodgett partnership is evidence that many New England industries continue to thrive and grow despite the current economic slump.

The Blodgett Corporation is the world's leading manufacturer of commercial ovens. The Blodgett Corporation employs over 160 workers in Burlington. Estimated annual sales are over $71 million. The company is headquartered at 44 Lakeside Avenue.

"As a Chittenden County-based company that has been here for more than 150 years, the Blodgett Corporation could not be more pleased to co-host today's gathering with the Lake Champlain KFC Co-Op," said Gary Mick, president of Blodgett. "By partnering with KFC and providing Blodgett ovens to every KFC across the U.S., there is now a little piece of Burlington in every town in the country. We thank all of our esteemed business partners for joining us here today at Celebrate Burlington Business. By coming together today, we can all celebrate what has been accomplished in Burlington business, and, continue to build bridges for our future endeavors."

The Lake Champlain KFC Co-Op is comprised of nine KFC restaurants in the region: two in the Greater Burlington area, one in Rutland, one in Barre, one in St. Johnsbury, one in St. Albans, one in West Lebanon, N.H., one in Plattsburgh, N.Y ., and one in Malone, N,Y. The Co-Op generates over $7.5 million in annual sales.

KFC's new chicken offering made its national debut on April 14; it's marinated and seasoned with a savory blend of six herbs and spices and slow grilled. With between 70 to 180 calories, and four to nine grams of fat depending on the piece, it provides a non-fried option.
