Elizabethtown celebrates with banners

ELIZABETHTOWN - They're hanging from telephone poles in neighboring towns. Some celebrate their history while others highlight the seasons of the High Peaks.

Now Elizabethtown will have its own pole banners. Designed by artist Becki Pushee, and made possible by the chamber of commerce, the town of Elizabethown and a Quadracentennial grant, these banners will feature the Adirondack Gateway surrounding a Cobble Hill Golfer. Names of individual businesses or organizations will be featured at the bottom of the 30-inch by 60-inch banner. The banners will be hung each summer by the town highway workers on special brackets. They will be removed in the fall so the holiday wreaths can be put up.

The number of banners is limited and any business or organization can reserve one with their name printed on it for $130. The Elizabethtown-Lewis Chamber of Commerce must receive the application and payment by Friday, May 22. Call 873-6400 or 873-6699 for an application.
