With the economy the way it stands now, retail business in this sector is increasing sales nationwide (35 percent increase) and its holding true for Rutland. Traci has been an avid second hand shopper her whole life and re-using and recycling items that are practically new and absolutely still use-able makes better sense to her than to purchase new items that contribute to environmental hazards. Buying local recycled items keeps money local as well.
In fact, Reincarnation Upscale Resale gives 10 percent of monthly sales to a different local charity each month. According to Pena, "When you shop or cosign with me, you get a vote from two charities. The one that gets the most votes by the end of the month receives the money. The better I do, the better they do! When you support my business, you also support the community. It's a win-win situation!"
The future looks bright for the store and Pena's hopes and expectations. "Eventually I plan to expand into a recycling center where businesses and industries can donate or sell their cast-offs and be a place where teachers, artists, parents and children can find materials for art projects and so much more! ... And who knows, maybe one day, I'll have multiple Reincarnations' across the country!"
Reincarnation Upscale Resale is open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10-6, Thursdays and Fridays from 10-8 and Saturdays from 9-5.
