Youtheatre auditions set

LAKE GEORGE - The magic of the Lake George Youtheatre continues for yet another season.

Auditions for Youtheatre's 32nd season will occur at 7 p.m. Monday May 4 at the Lake George High School, and area youth from age 11 through high-school age are invited to try out for the local theater group's summer program.

Those seeking to audition must memorize a short monologue and sing a song, unaccompanied, of their choice.

All are encouraged to audition, and a warm and welcoming environment is provided for the participating youth, organization representatives said.

Prospective participants do not need to pre-register.

Those accepted into the program will rehearse 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays from July 6 to July 31.

Youtheatre's shows this season are Secret Garden, July 15-17; Once Upon a Mattress, July 22-14; and Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, July 29-31.

Participants receive direction in speech, characterization, vocal music, dance, stage movement, scenic art, stage lighting, sound, and technical effects. All those involved commit for all four weeks.

Youtheatre performers then take responsibility for all facets of the stage productions.

Lake George Youtheatre has achieved regional acclaim, and has been chosen several times to be the first theatrical group to host a particular Broadway production.
