Bristol school to replace classroom lighting

Gov. Jim Douglas announced that energy efficiency projects across the state have received $188,000 in first round of funding from the Vermont Community Climate Change Grant Program.

The renewable energy and efficiency projects will reduce a combined 270 tons of carbon emissions annually, while boosting Vermont?s local economy with investments and lower fuel costs.

The grant program will fund another round of projects in late spring. The deadline to apply is May 1.

Among the project awarded is Bristol Elementary School. Taxpayers will fund $12,000 to replace lighting in 30 classrooms, three hallways and two offices.
