Over the fence

This is the time of year to start tomato and green pepper seeds in the house, so the plants will be ready for the garden in May.

As you drive through Thurman you never know what you will see! A local resident reported he was driving up Valley Road and as he broke over the small hill by the Kenyontown Methodist Church he couldn't believe his eyes! A hen turkey was waiting at the front door of the church and not finding anyone there, turned around and calmly walked down the L-shaped handicapped ramp before stepping off and scurrying into a wooded area! This little historic church welcomes everyone into the flock!

Are there any local soldiers now over in the war zones? Those who know of those serving are asked to contact Maria at 623-9961 and she will start a care package to be sent.

All registered voters are urged to get out and vote for the Congressional seat which was left vacant when Kristen Gillibrand was appointed to the U.S. Senate. The polls in Thurman are located at the Town Hall and will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 31.

Daffodils, the "flower of hope" will be available for a $1 each donation, which is given to the cancer fund. The volunteers will be at the Warrensburg Elementary School lobby Friday March 20 during the lunch breaks. For information or to order bouquets, call 623-2984.

All clothing items in the basement at the Town Hall which are free for the taking will be removed April 1. Some items are new with tags still on them, others are used in good condition. Bring a bag and get your family set for next fall. For details, call 623-9649.
