Willsboro 3-14-09

Life in the North Country produces changes every day. Last week one of those quick snow storms that slowed us down a bit, and now just one week later and most of us can once again see our lawns. It is so good to go outside and hear the birds singing their sweet songs, a sure sign that spring is fast approaching. My mother never liked the month of March, because she didn't like the dirty snow, and the mud, she only wanted to see the new life of spring. Hopefully our snow bird adults that leave for the winter will be returning soon just like the birds do. It was good to see Brad Paye back for a couple of weeks.

I wonder how many of our local citizens realize how fortunate we are that we have many local officials that make great plans for our well being. I had the chance in these last couple of months to serve with many of these persons as they were revising the disaster plan for our community, if one should ever arise, plans are in order as to what procedures would go into action. Our officials do much that we never give them thanks for.

Hope the Martin family from Turtle Island enjoyed their few days off, as the restaurant was closed. The Catholic church had a great fish fry supper this past week, if they have another, I recommend that you give it a try. Remember the Coffee House event at the Congregational Church on the 14th of March starting at 7 p.m., they feature a local musician, this time it will be Donna Brown Joerg. There will be a Lenten late afternoon concert at the Essex Community Church on March 15 at 4 p.m. The Willsboro Methodist Church is once again sponsoring our Spring homemade apple pie sale sold only by pre order. Each pie will sell for $10 each, and you can have them baked or unbaked or frozen. If interested just contact any one from that church to place your order.
