Open mic night set in Blue Mountain Lake

BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE - Local authors will have an opportunity to share their work with others at the Adirondack Center for the Arts in Blue Mountain Lake.

Writers open mic night will be held Saturday, March 21, at 7 p.m. at the center.

The open mic will be held in the arts center performance space where all are welcome to enjoy a casual night in a coffee house setting with the spoken word. ,

Admission is $3 a person or $2 for current arts center members.

Participating writers will be asked to sign-in upon arrival to determine the order for the night.

All forms of original works are welcome - prose, poetry, excerpts from books and plays, and short stories.

The arts center has asked writers to plan on about a 5 minute time limit and if time allows there will be a second round.

Coffee and desserts will be available for sale.

The Adirondack Center for the Arts is located on route 28 and offers a variety of exhibits and programs to bring a diverse cultural experience to the surrounding community.

At the center guests experience artwork from the student level to the professional as well as performance arts throughout the year. Classes and workshops are available for all ages.

Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to noon the center offers a cup of coffee, a piece of homemade pie and the opportunity to visit its gallery.

Arts center membership is available for $5. Membership benefits include discounts on workshop fees, preschools, theater and concert admissions. invitations to gallery openings and special events. discounted rental rates for the arts center facility for private parties and receptions,use of studio facilities, and all arts center mailings, newsletters, schedules, and brochures.

Coming up at the gallery of the Arts Center is a the student art exhibit March 19-April 6, show casing art work of students from area schools.

On Wii Wednesdays the gallery becomes an interactive video game space with a 70-inch screen. For those who aren't interested in Wii, there are "Try It Once" workshops upstairs.

Other March events include acting classes, Ukrainian Easter egg workshop, cooking classes and more.
