Hague chamber names senior of the year

HAGUE - If it happens in Hague, there's a good chance Joe McCranels is involved.

McCranels was honored for his volunteer service to the community recently, being named Senior Citizen of the Year by the Hague Chamber of Commerce.

Sal Santaniello made the announcement and presented McCranels with a plaque at a luncheon. Hague Senior Club President Judy Stock, presented him with flowers.

Santaniello noted the many ways McCranels has contributed to the town of Hague.

McCranels has been a driver for Meals-on-Wheels, a member of the Beste Scholarship Fund Committee, a member and vice chairman of the board of directors of the Hague Volunteer Fire Department, a correspondent for The Hague Chronicle, a Hague Winter Carnival committee member, coordinator of the cross country skiing trails at Rogers Rock, a member of the Ticonderoga Kiwanis Club and "an all around helper when needed."

A modest McCranels had little say about the award.

"I am humbly grateful," McCranels said.
