Orange win; Johnsburg falls

Indian Lake/Long Lake broke open a close game in the second half to beat Crown Point, 59-41, and advance to the semifinal round of the Section VII Class D boys basketball tournament Feb. 28.

The Orange faced Westport, which beat Bolton, 68-39, in the quarterfinals, in the semifinals Tuesday with the championship game scheduled for noon today at SUNY-Plattsburgh.

Indian Lake/Long Lake led 28-23 at the intermission, but opened the second half with a 22-5 run to claim the victory.

Jeff Reynolds scored 10 of his team-high 23 points in the decisive third quarter. Reynolds went 6-for-6 from the line in the third.

Zack Mitchell added 14 points Orange and Chris Bain had 13 rebounds for the winners.

John Budwick had 25 points to pace Crown Point, which ended its must successful season in recent memory.

Schroon Lake 43,

Johnsburg 41

Schroon Lake nipped Johnsburg, 43-41, in the quarterfinal round of the Section VII Class D boys basketball tournament Feb. 28.

The Wildcats faced Moriah in the semifinals Tuesday with the championship game scheduled for noon today at SUNY-Plattsburgh.

Schroon trailed by four points in the final quarter, but rallied behind Ethan Tyrrell and Brennan Bush.

Tyrrell finished with 20 points and Bush 10.

Johnsburg had two chances to knot the game in the closing seconds, but missed shots.

Adrian Veldman led Johnsburg with 19 points.
