SHOREHAM-Staffers of the Platt Library of Shoreham announced a new service. Patrons can now download audiobooks in the convenience of their own home.
Dianne Lawson of the library said patrons can go online to www.listenupvermont.org and follow the easy getting started instructions in the box on the right side of the screen.
"Once your linking software is installed, you will be able to shop and download anytime , any where," she said. "You may download to mp3players, i-pods, burn CD's, or listen through your computer. You will log in through the Platt Memorial Library, give your library card number and you are off and running. What type of materials are available? An amazingly wide selection of fiction and information for children and adults. Please take a few minutes to explore this fabulous new service and give it a try."
The library will hold a cabin fever book sale on Saturday, Feb. 28, from 9 a.m. to noon.
"We have loads of good reads available. This sale is to be held in our basement, which is unfortunately not handicapped accessible, but our next sale on May 23 will be on the lawn with good, flat access.," Lawson said.
Two book discussions are coming up: On Wednesday, Feb. 25 at 6:30 p.m., will be a round table discussion on mystery books. Bring an author or title to share briefly with the group. On Wednesday, March 18, the library will discuss Erik Larson's book "Isaac's Storm". Copies are available to borrow from the library.
