CROWN POINT - Crown Point Central School students put their talent on display during the second annual school talent show recently.
Sponsored by the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America club. the event attracted 22 acts.
There were 10 performances in the grades 4-6 division including: Josh Behrendt playing his saxophone, Hunter Spaulding tap dancing, Makenna Manley dancing ballet, Jenna McIntosh singing, Savannah Crammond and Marianna Shaffer doing a hula hoop routine, Erick DuShane and Maria Malone tap dancing, Abigail Carpenter dancing, Courtney Evens and Hailey Thompson dancing, Josh Behrendt and Noah LaPointe doing a puppet show, and Abigail Carpenter playing her flute.
Carpenter took third place for her dance routine, while Savannah Crammond and Marianna Shaffer took second place for the hula hoop show. Erick DuShane and Maria Malone took first place and the cash prize of $25.
The grades 7-12 plus faculty division also offered 10 different performances. They included: Taylor McGuinness breakdancing, Heather Bemis performing "The Evolution of Dance," Ronnie Burroughs doing a "legless hop," Kerry Burris playing her flute, Chelsea DuShane and Emily Meachem dancing "The Hoe-Down, Throw-Down," Justin Potter playing the drums, Caleb McGuinness and Mike Gould lip-synching, Brittani Boyle and Alex Macey singing, Justin Potter playing his cello, and a group of teachers (Elaine Dixon, Crystal Farrell, Kaitlin Fielder and Cathy Russell) performing a comedy skit and song.
Justin Potter won the $50 prize with his cello performance of "Amazing Grace" and "Gavotte."
Two non-judged numbers came from the dance class, which is a new physical education elective now being offered at Crown Point Central School under the direction of Laura Uhly. The first performance from the dance class was a ballroom dance medley. As a finale to the show, the dance class performed Michael Jackson's original "Thriller."
The "Thriller" dancers include Kerry Burris, Megan Cole, Chelsea DuShane, Liz Hinds, Kelsey MacDougal, Jerrica Manley, Emily Meachem, Tiffany Parker-Bissette, Erin Ross, Samantha Russell and Uhly. Justin Potter and Jordan Savage were in charge of backstage lighting and special effects.
