Pair face crack-cocaine charges

The Vermont Drug Task Force (VDTF) has concluded a three-month-long crack-cocaine distribution investigation resulting in the arrest of Rafael Jimenez, age 32, and Nikkol Champagne, age 19, both of South Burlington.

After conducting multiple controlled purchases of crack- cocaine from Jimenez and Champagne police arrested them together without incident in South Burlington.

The South Burlington Police Department assisted with the operation. Jimenez and Champagne are facing multiple charges for sale of cocaine, which are punishable by up to five years in prison.

Jimenez also faces additional charges of possession of cocaine greater than 40 grams. He was lodged for lack of bail and was arraigned in Vermont District Court in Burlington. Champagne was cited to appear in Vermont District Court on July 21.
