TICONDEROGA - The Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership has announced a plan for an outdoor "streetfest," similar to the sidewalk sales events held in downtown Ticonderoga in years past.
The event will Saturday, Aug. 15, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Should there be inclement weather, the event will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22.
Montcalm Street will be closed from the corner near the Sunshine Laundry to the Glens Falls National Bank to allow shoppers to view and purchase displayed merchandise.
Tables will be available for individuals, vendors and crafters wishing to set up sale sites. A $10 registration fee, which will be waived for Montcalm Street merchants, will be charged for all vendors and crafters. Applications to participate and additional information may be obtained at the Sunshine Laundry and Rathbun Jewelers.
"Many downtown restaurants have indicated interest in participating, so food, snacks and beverages will also be part of the streetfest offerings," said Susan Rathbun, chairwoman of the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership.
Rathbun said the Ticonderoga Montcalm Street Partnership is considering a display of new and classic cars as well as entertainment during the event.
"We're hoping this event will attract a wide variety of local and area vendors who sell everything from handcrafts to antiques to gently used items, kind of like a smaller-scale Warrensburg tag sale day," Rathbun said. "We encourage our museums, other area attractions and community organizations to come in and set up sale tables, too. We'd like to offer something for everyone, from children to the young at heart. We're working on making it a great time for all with lots of interesting things to see, buy and taste."
