JOHNSBURG - The trustees of the Glenn and Carol Pearsall Adirondack Foundation have announced that they are accepting grant applications for the 2009-2010 grant cycle. Applications will be accepted from July 1- Aug. 30 with grants awarded in October.
Programs and not-for profit organizations funded last year included:
• Wildlife Institute of Eastern New York for "Adirondack Animals" programs in elementary schools within the Adirondack Park
• Adirondack Lake Center for the Arts, Blue Mountain Lake, for after school art programs and children's summer workshops
• Paine Memorial Free Library, Willsboro, for books for the summer reading program
• Tannery Pond Community Center, North Creek, for "Teenagers Only"
• Community Transportation Services, Ltd., Old Forge, toward a new wheel chair van.
• First Night Saranac Lake for family entertainment.
• North Country Public Radio for "Natural Selections"
• Retired and Senior Volunteer Program of Warren and Washington Counties for volunteer development
• North Country Association for the Visually Impaired, Lake Placid, for visual aids and adaptive equipment.
• Mercy Care for the Adirondacks, Lake Placid, for program support.
• Adirondack Museum for the "Cabin Fever" series
• Wildlife Conservation Society for regional dialogue using the Adirondack Common Ground Alliance's "Blue print for the Blue Line."
• Pendragon Theatre for a fall-winter production brought to Tannery Pond Community Center and Indian Lake Theatre.
• Creative Healing Connections, Inc. for a healing retreat for Adirondack women who are veterans of Iraq/Afghanistan or spouses of men who have served or are serving.
• Thomas Shipman Youth Center, Lake Placid, for youth programming.
• Ticonderoga Heritage Museum for the La Chute River Exhibit
• Mountain Lake PBS for "Art Express"
• Deepwater Experiential Education Project, Westport, for their wilderness education program for Adirondack youth
• Retired & Senior Volunteer Program of Essex County for 2008-2009 volunteer recruitment project
