Gore baseball falls in finals

NORTH CREEK - June 20, North Creek Gore edged North Creek Tigers 5 - 4 in the semi-finals.

With the score tie in the bottom of the last inning, Evan Slater led off with a single, stole 2nd and 3rd, then with two outs and two strikes on the batter,

Evan scored the winning run on a wild pitch, that hit the fence post and rolled away from the catcher. "Gore and Tigers players all played very hard, It's too bad someone had to lose this game" Coach LaFountain said. After the 4th inning the Tigers had a 3 - 2 lead. "this is the 1st time in 11 games that my team(Gore) was behind after an inning all year, so this was going to be a challenge for us," LaFountain said. Besides Slaters single, Hits for Gore came from: Nate Prouty2-for-3, run and RBI. Dalton Stevens 1-for-2, double, run and RBI.

Mark Cleveland added a single and scored a run.

Cleveland and Aidan Connelly pitched well, giving up only 3 hits entering the championship with a 11-0 record, Gore fell in the finals 10-5 to Warrensburg. With the bat in the finals Gore was lead by, Dalton Stevens 2-for-3, double, run and 2 RBI. Nate Prouty went 1-for-3, homerun. EmmaLee Ellswourth 1-for-3, triple. Evan Slater was 2-for-2, while Mark Cleveland and Josh Donohue added singles. Aidan Connelly made a great catch in the outfield, that would have been a homerun.

During the last game three more players hit career milestones. Aidan Connelly had his 100 strike out from the mound, while Nate Prouty had his 50th RBI of his career, and Mark Cleveland scored his 50th run.

"The kids did really well this season, they played hard, and we had alot of fun. I'm really going to miss the 12 year olds.I hope they all will remember this season for years to come," LaFountain said.

"I also would like to thank everyone players, parents and fans for a great season."
