New Web site designed to benefit town

"I think this will be a great opportunity for people to have at their fingertips a lot of knowledge that allows them, even if they can't go to a meeting, to at least see what's going on in the town and what the board's working on," he said.

Those from outside the town will also benefit from the listing of community events and from the overall background of Peru that might entice them to move to the area.

"This will give them a better opportunity to realize what is in Peru," said Covel. "It'll also give them the opportunity to maybe consider moving here. We are one of the fastest growing communities in Clinton County."

Eventually, McBrayer said he would like to see the site expand to include other information that would be of interest to those surfing the Web, such as a town business directory, listing of youth recreation programs and listing of town highway department projects.

"Basically, anything we think people would be coming on-line to find," said McBrayer. "We really want it to be a resource, especially for anyone living in Peru."
