Kelly Penfield announced as Mystery Girl

Then, Penfield picked a name from the 59 correct answers for the contest to announce Melinda Weiss of Rouses Point as the winner.

"I thought it was neat," said Weiss of the contest. "I think it is something that they should do every year."

Weiss, who is also a native of Rouses Point guessed the Mystery Girl's identity after the first clue was announced to be "On the streets she often walks, always taking time to stop and talk."

"I always see her walking," explained Weiss, who cast her vote at Angelo's Restaurant.

As the winner, Weiss received many goodies from the Rouses Point-Champlain Historical Society, including the society's Quadricentennial pin, T-shirt and calendar.

"I'm so glad that so many people really became interested in it," said Penfield. "It seemed to be something that people really did have a lot of fun with."
