PERU - The New York State Department of Transportation will host two public meetings to present information and answer questions about a proposed project to replace bridges over Interstate 87 on State Route 442, also known as Bear Swamp Road.
Meeting sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, July 21, from 4-5 p.m. and 6-7 p.m. Both sessions will be held at Peru Town Hall, 3036 Main St. The department is developing design alternatives for the project to replace the bridges carrying State Route 442 over I-87. It is anticipated traffic will be maintained on-site by means of staged construction. Temporary traffic signals may be used on both bridge approaches to control traffic flow.
The purpose of the informational meeting is to obtain comments on the proposed project from individuals, groups, officials and local agencies. The department is specifically soliciting comments on the development of alternatives for the project, on the proposed traffic control plan, and on the project's social, economic and environmental effects.
The informational meeting is part of the continuing efforts by NYSDOT and the Federal Highway Administration to encourage public input into the development of transportation projects.
Those in need of a sign language interpreter, assistive listening system or any other accommodations may contact NYSDOT public information officer Michael R. Flick in advance at 315-785-2218.
Interested individuals who are not able to attend on this date may obtain project information by writing to project director Scott A. Docteur, P.E., Planning & Program Management, NYS Department of Transportation, Room 706, Dulles State Office Building, 317 Washington St., Watertown N.Y. 13601.
