Currently, Aleksejczyk is the president of the Minerva Service Organization (MSO), a position which keeps her very busy. As she says, "Being involved keeps me really busy in the community".
She is always thinking of expanding the horizons of the MSO - her latest project idea will involve a reading program for kids from infant to five years old.
If her last name sounds like it might be difficult to pronounce, here is a guide. Pronounce it like this: Alex - a - sik, with a slight accent on the second syllable. "They call me Sharon A.", she says, which is entirely ok with her.
Look for Sharon Aleksejczyk leading the Minerva Day Parade on July 5 beginning at 5:00 pm - she'll be there as royalty (Minerva Citizen of the Year). Normally you would see her dressed in a fine clown outfit on the MSO float, but not this year. Introduce yourself if you don't already know her - she represents the essence of volunteerism.
