Settlement in ExxonMobil claim

MONTPELIER - Under a settlement with ExxonMobil Corporation, Vermont will receive $150,000 to resolve its claim against the company for costs expended by the State to clean up petroleum contamination at several service stations around Vermont.

The state's claim was based upon allegations that ExxonMobil received reimbursement from its insurers for costs that were paid by the state's Petroleum Cleanup Fund, or PCF. The PCF is used to cover costs of cleanup of spills not covered by insurance.
