PLATTSBURGH - The ABCs of boating safely on Lake Champlain will be offered to the public in a special class Feb. 7. The one-day course is called "About Boating Safely" and is offered by Flotilla 15-8, U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Plattsburgh. The course satisfies state requirements for mandatory education for personal watercraft (PWC) operators.
"We consider this course essential for recreational boaters, whether you own a powerboat, sailboat, PWC, or kayak," said Margaret Malone, instructor for Flotilla 15-8. "And it's a great time of year to start thinking about summer recreation."
The course will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 7, in the Gander Mountain Conference Room, Champlain Center Mall, Plattsburgh. The cost of the course and textbook are $30, and $15 for each additional family member sharing the same book.
