ACC seeks course ideas for children's academics

QUEENSBURY - Adirondack Community College is now seeking instructors and course proposals for ACC's popular Summer Enrichment Program, for young students, to be held July 6 through July 23 at the Queensbury campus.

Students are grouped into two levels: grades 3-5 and grades 6-9. Courses will run Monday through Thursday in three time slots-8:15 to 10:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The Summer Enrichment Program provides educational enrichment opportunities in the arts and sciences. New courses designed to meet the expanding needs and interests of students are welcome.

Course proposals are due February 9, 2009.

For a course to be considered, a proposal must include a day-by day course outline and take into consideration the attention span and skill level of the targeted age group.

Successful courses have included hands-on activities, opportunities for independent work, and higher-level thinking activities.

To request a proposal form, please call the ACC Center for Personal and Professional Development at 743-2238 or download a form from the ACC Center's web page at www.sunyacc.edu/acc_center.
