RICHMOND - A report of several thefts at a senior-citizen residence in Richmond prompted an officer of the Richmond Police Department to investigate several claims and produce a suspect.
On Jan. 12, Senior Officer Sarah Messier received information that several residents at Richmond Terrace believed they were the victims of a thief. One Richmond Terrace resident - Charlene Truax, age 88 - told Messier that her purse was stolen.
Upon investigation, Officer Messier uncovered the fact that a suspect, later identified as Amber Guyette, age 19 of Jericho, was seen walking inside Richmond Terrace during the day Jan. 9. Guyette had apparently been visiting a relative at the residence.
Three days following Guyette's visit to Richmond Terrace, Officer Messier received information about a female who was attempting to cash a check belonging to Charlene Truax at TD Banknorth branches in Williston and Essex. The tip led Officer Messier to the Jericho teen.
Messier informed the media that Guyette was cited into court for possession of stolen property and false token. It was discovered that Guyette had an outstanding warrant stemming from a retail theft case in Burlington. Guyette was lodged at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.
