Wilderness First-Aid class sign-up deadline near

WARRENSBURG - A class that offers in-depth instruction and certification on back-country first aid will be held soon, and the deadline for sign-up is Jan. 21.

As of Tuesday, only five more students can be accepted in the two-day course, to be held Sat. Jan. 24. & Sun. Jan. 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Cornell Cooperative Extension headquarters on Schroon River Rd. in Warrensburg.

Clark Hayward, Director of Adirondack Wilderness Medicine, hands-on, experiential instruction. This course is dealing with first-aid principles put to use in an emergency when no first-aid kit is available and help cannot be summoned. Students will hear lectures, play roles in mock scenarios, and partner with other students to determine what is wrong with a mock victim.

The fee for this program is $150. Space is limited to 16 youth, over the age of 12, or adults. Pre-registration is required and pre-payment is due by Jan. 21.

All interested youth, youth group leaders, and volunteers are encouraged to register. A waiting list will be started if necessary.
