Willsboro 44

CROWN POINT - The one-two punch of John Budwick and Tony Rodriguez proved too much for the Warriors as Crown Point defended their home court Jan. 12.

Budwick dominated the paint, pouring in 21 points to go along with 14 rebounds. Rodriguez added 18 points and seven assists for the Panthers.

Down 26-8 at halftime, Willsboro battled back with a 19-10 run in the third, but could not catch up to the Panthers.

Alex Hamel led the Warriors with 14 points and Lucas Strong added nine.


Elizabethtown-Lewis 48, Schroon Lake 23

ELIZABETHTOWN - The Lions finished the game with an 18-1 run to rout Schroon Lake in MVAC girls basketball Jan. 8.

Riley Diemand notched 18 points and nine rebounds for the Lions. Kelsey Gibson ran the floor for ELCS with 16 points, eight rebounds and eight assists.

Keene 57,

Minerva-Newcomb 37

KEENE VALLEY - The Beavers raced out to an early lead and held on to defeat the Mountaineers in MVAC girls basketball Jan. 12.

Keene went on a 17-2 run to start the game and overcame a third quarter rally by Minerva-Newcomb to get their third win of the season.

Emma Nye scored 26 points for the Beavers, who also got big play from Summer Reed as she posted 16 points, eight steals, and six assists.

Deidra Palmatier scored 11 points to lead the Mountaineers.

Willsboro 61,

Bolton 45

WILLSBORO - The Warriors jumped out to a 31-16 lead in the first half and never looked back as they defeated Bolton in MVAC girls basketball Jan. 13.

Ten Willsboro players made it into the scoring column, led by Codia Holland with 12 points and Ashley Sherman with 11.

Amanda Moffit was the only Eagles player in double figures with 11 points.

Chazy 33, Keene 24

KEENE VALLEY - In a highly defensive contest, Chazy defeated Keene for the second time this season in MVAC girls basketball Jan. 13.

Olivia Seymour put up 12 points for the Eagles and Stephanie Pepper added 8.

League-leading scorer Emma Nye tossed in 15 points for the Beavers.

Westport 52, ELCS 39

ELIZABETHTOWN - The Westport girls added another win to their league-leading record Jan. 13 with a decisive victory over Elizabethtown-Lewis.

Alicia Hathaway and Sarah Gibbs led a balanced scoring attack from the Eagles with 10 points apeice. Gibbs also pulled down eight rebounds.
