New pizza business opens downtown

RUTLAND - Despite the gloomy economy and astronomical government bailouts, local businessmen and women are undaunted in their efforts to keep the free enterprise system alive and well in Vermont.

The Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce celebrated the opening of Coviello's Pizza Express located at 97 State St., in downtown Rutland last week.

Coviello's Pizza Express has real New York pizza by real New Yorkers. Monday is pizza night, $10 for a large one topping pizza.

Coviello's offers fresh pulled pork and grandma's home made meatballs; catering is available. New York bread and Vermont Cheeses and Sausage are used in their recipes.

On hand for Coviello's kick off was Tom Donahue, Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce executive vice president and CEO, Marleen Cenate, of the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce and Heritage Family Credit Union, Rob Johnson and Andrew Coviello, owners, Joanne Slattery of the Rutland City Board of Alderman, Joan Hill of the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce, and Bill Notte of the Rutland City Board of Alderman.

Others in attendance included Barbara Giancola, downtown building owner, Joe Giancola, building owner, Mike Coppinger, executive director of the Downtown Rutland Partnership, and Don Wickman, marketing and special events coordinator of the Downtown Rutland Partnership.
