Mooers natives recognized for service

KABUL, Afghanistan - Sixteen members of a New York Army National Guard support unit assigned to Combined Joint Task Force Phoenix received awards during a ceremony at Camp Phoenix in Kabul Nov. 26. Specialist Benjamin Brassard from Mooers was awarded an Army Commendation Medal and a Combat Action Badge. His father, Staff Sgt. Gilbert Brassard, was awarded a Meritorious Service Medal, along with Sgt. David M. Dickens from Buffalo and Staff Sgt. Karen Robinson from Rochester.

The soldiers are assigned to the Rochester-based Company A, 427th Brigade Support Battalion and are serving as Logistics Task Force Alpha, the transportation company for CJTF-Phoenix.
