Habitat plans another Middlebury house

MIDDLEBURY - Habitat for Humanity of Addison County (HfHAC) will select a partner family to build a fifth house on Weybridge Street in Middlebury.

Construction is expected to begin in the Spring of this year. To be considered, a family must currently live or work in Addison County, and have an annual income between 50 percent and 80 percent of area median income (for a family of four, for example, income must be between $31,562 and $ $50,500).

The family must currently live in substandard housing, such as housing that is too small for the size of family, too expensive, or without running water or adequate heat. Lastly, the selected family must be willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Addison County. That means that each adult member of the household must be willing to contribute at least 200 hours of labor to build the house.

If you're considering applying to become the Habitat partner family, HfHAC is holding an informational meeting Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Ilsley Library in Middlebury. Pizza will be served. For information, or to request an application, call 388-0400.
