Bishop to pray, speak out against abortion

MONTPELIER - The Most Rev. Salvatore R. Matano, Roman Catholic bishop of Burlington, will once again celebrate the annual Rally for Life Mass at St. Augustine Church in Montpelier Saturday, Jan. 17 at 9:30 a.m. The special mass "to honor and protect the unborn" traditionally precedes the interdenominational Rally for Life March sponsored by the Vermont Right to Life Committee.

March participants are asked to meet at 10:45 a.m. behind City Hall in Montpelier and walk down State Street to the steps of the Capitol for a gathering to support the respect for unborn life. After opening remarks, the gathering will move into the Vermont State House Chamber to hear pro-life speakers.

This year's keynote speaker will be Steven Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute in the Washington D.C. area.
