Accident claims life of Cadyville woman

QUEENSBURY - A Cadyville woman has died following a motor vehicle accident in the town of Queensbury.

Inez M. Pelkey, 81, was pronounced dead at Glens Falls Hospital Jan. 3. Pelkey was a passenger in a vehicle being driven on Interstate 87 by Ronald L. Martineau, 49, Peru.

According to a state police report, at approximately 12:20 p.m. that day, Martineau was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Impala southbound in the center lane when a 2009 Chevrolet Impala driven by Paul J. Mosticchio, 45, Cayman Islands, swerved out of the left lane, striking Martineau's vehicle. Martineau's vehicle exited the right shoulder of the roadway and overturned, while Mosticchio's vehicle veered back to the left and his vehicle came to rest in the median, the report stated.

Mosticchio was issued traffic tickets for reckless driving, moving from lane unsafely and unlicensed operation. He is scheduled to appear in Town of Queensbury Court Jan. 26.

The accident is still under investigation.
