WCS board recognizes two students for achievements

WARRENSBURG - The Warrensburg Central School Board of Education awarded two students recently for their academic achievement and conduct.

Warrensburg High School Sophomore Marissa Perrone and WCS Elementary Fourth Grade student Jordan Santisteban were recognized in December at the board's monthly meeting with a presentation, a recount of their achievements, a ceremonial medallion and a gift certificate to Dog Ate My Homework bookstore in Glens Falls.

Marissa, daughter of Suzanne and Albert Perrone of Lake George, maintains a mid-90's grade average at school, and she achieved her class's highest average last year in Social Studies, English, Spanish and Biology.

Marissa was chosen for the Hugh O'Brien Youth Leadership Award, and she spends a considerable time honing her dance skills at The Dance Center of Queensbury, WCS faculty member Theresa Wilcox said.

"Marissa is not only an extremely intelligent young lady, she is also kind, generous, and helpful to her friends," she said.

Jordan Santisteban is a student in Keith LaLone's fourth-grade class at Warrensburg Elementary.

The daughter of Erika and Michael Santisteban of Warrensburg, Jordan has considerable social skills as well as academic achievements, according to LaLone.

"Jordan has demonstrated outstanding character in our classroom," he said. "She is always willing to help her peers and has also helped a fellow student develop friendships with others."
