School in lockdown after receiving threat

CHARLOTTE - On Dec. 15, at approximately 2:20 p.m., the Vermont State Police Williston Barracks responded to the Charlotte Central School for a report of a suspicious threatening letter that placed the school in lockdown.

The letter was time specific, therefore the lockdown was deemed necessary. The State Police responded and conducted a thorough investigation which determined the threat to be unfounded.

The investigation is on-going and upon completion, criminal charges are likely to result. It was determined the letter was written by a student.
