ELIZABETHTOWN - The Elizabethtown Community Hospital Auxiliary is donating $9,500 to the Hospital this year for the purchase of new equipment.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of nearly 50 Hospital Auxiliary members and through the generosity of the community, the group was able to raise a record $15,500 in 2008. This year, the Elizabethtown Community Hospital Auxiliary is donating a vital signs unit to the High Peaks Health Center; a new comfortable chair for patients to have their blood drawn in the Laboratory; a new, more comfortable mattress pad for the CT unit; a new light laser for Physical Therapy; and a pulse oximeter unit to measure patient vital signs at the Elizabethtown Community Health Center.
Throughout the year, the Auxiliary holds various fundraisers to support the Hospital including Dinner @ 8 and the annual Scavenger Hunt, their signature events. Money is also raised through the sale of homemade pies at Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day gift baskets, flower bulb sales, and various drawings. In addition to the $9,500 donation to purchase equipment, the Auxiliary also purchases magazine subscriptions for patients, awards an annual $500 scholarship, stocks the Emergency Department with necessities for patients who are at the ER unexpectedly and empty-handed, supports the hospital's annual golf tournament and the building project, buys Christmas presents for patients, and much more.
The Auxiliary has been in existence for over 50 years. The group meets on a monthly basis and new members are always welcome. For more information, call the Community Relations Department at 873-3003.
