PLATTSBURGH - Community Bank, N.A., a subsidiary of Community Bank System, Inc. (NYSE: CBU), a registered bank holding company with over 160 branches throughout Upstate New York and Pennsylvania, has announced through Dec. 31, all of the bank's noninterest-bearing transaction accounts will immediately have an unlimited guarantee by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account.
Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to the coverage available under the FDICs general deposit insurance rules.
Commercial and personal non-interest-bearing checking accounts will be fully covered as well as certain attorney trust accounts, and negotiable order of withdrawal (NOW) accounts with interest rates below 0.50 percent.
